Thrash (or thrash metal) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo. The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead work.
Groove metal, often associated with neo-thrash/post-thrash and power groove, is a term sometimes used to describe an derivative subgenre of thrash metal and death metal, heavy metal which took its current form during the early 1990s.
