I remember back in the day when I was first getting started with music production, I was using the very first version of fruity loops and man oh man that was so much fun. My music was garbage but I kept at it anyways and things definitely got better over time.
Eventually I picked up some proper speakers, a mixing board, the whole nine yards. And not only that but I took some basic music classes and actually studied music, I have to say that was a huge help. If you're just getting into making music then my top advice is to just keep at it, it takes time to get skills and to hone your musical ear and your production talent. Too many people give up too soon. In all honesty, you need a solid 3 or 4 years to get where you envision being, and that is a minimum. I also had some friends who took professional studio recording classes so that was a serious boost to my production skills.
As far as music goes, like I said, I enjoy everything really. I'll listen to opera in the mornings, hip hop in the afternoon, and techno or house when it's time to party. I honestly love all styles and genres of music. There's only good and bad music, it's really as simple as that. Mainly though, I love beats. Making Beats is what my focus is. It's an art all in itself and many people don't realize just how much passion and focus goes into beat making. I decided to start a site at mybeatmakers.com to help other new beat makers and electronic producers find there way, and that has really come along nicely. Not only do we do interviews with up and coming artists, but we feature tracks, review products, and all sorts of cool stuff.
If you ever want to get in touch to discuss music or just shoot the breeze, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
