Top 25 Best-Selling Records on Discogs in August 2023
The August 2023 best-selling list includes releases from Lana Del Rey, Rodriguez, Mac Miller, and Talking Heads.
Another monthly best-selling records list has arrived and it’s full of modern pop albums, hip-hop releases, and reissues that celebrate the extraordinary career of the late Rodriguez.
Lana Del Rey continues to dominate the best-selling list by claiming the No. 1 spot yet again. Taylor Swift also continues to reign supreme as she has four different records included in the top 25. With several months’ worth of best-selling status, it seems likely that Del Rey, Swift, and other big-time pop artists will continue to find their releases amongst the best-selling records on Discogs.
A reissue of Sherlock’s Made To Measure ended up on the list as this release marks the first time the album has been reissued on vinyl since its release in 1997. A 12-inch featuring Mac Miller’s Tiny Desk Concert and a 2020 pressing of MF Doom’s MM..Food also made the cut as hip-hop fans couldn’t get enough of these records in August 2023.
Singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez — better known as Rodriguez — died on August 8, 2023. The music world responded to the tragic news with heartfelt tributes, screenings of the documentary Searching For Sugarman, and listening sessions that focused on his two studio albums. 2019 reissues of Cold Fact and Coming From Reality were both best-sellers as fans added these classics to their collections and celebrated the brilliance of Rodriguez.
