The best-selling records on Discogs in December 2023 include electronic collectibles, Record Store Day exclusives, and releases from the biggest names in contemporary pop. 

Electronic artists Tetrips and ILLENIUM cracked the top five this month, while reissues of Massive Attack’s Mezzanine and New Order’s Substance represent trip-hop and synth-pop respectively further down the list. The first genre ever cataloged on Discogs, electronic music continues to drive a substantial amount of collecting each month.

Releases from Record Store Day Black Friday make up many of the best-selling records of December 2023, with limited-edition records from U2, Turnstile, Linkin Park, and Kim Petras all securing spots in the top 25. For collectors who missed out on RSD Black Friday on November 24, these records remained coveted titles throughout the month of December.

Pop superstars Olivia Rodrigo, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift all made the monthly best-selling list once again, solidifying the profound impact they had throughout the year. Recent releases from all three artists also ended up on the best-selling albums of 2023. 

Other notable December 2023 best-sellers include the final album from Jimmy Buffett, two releases from singer-songwriter Noah Kahan, and a “best of” compilation from the Pogues, whose frontman Shane MacGowan passed away late November 2023 and whose “Fairytale of New York” remains a perennial Christmastime classic.
