The best-selling records on Discogs in January 2024 include deluxe reissues, new releases, and iconic albums from the 1980s.
The recent Vinyl Me, Please pressing of Black Sabbath’s Master Of Reality attracted the attention of collectors last month with its “purple orchid splatter” vinyl and brand new remaster that’s getting rave reviews. The 2022 pressing of Frank Ocean’s Blonde made the best-selling list once again as fans continue to gravitate toward the latest official reissue, featuring a full-color gatefold sleeve.
New albums from the Smile and Sprints made the top 25 last month, with two different limited-edition blue vinyl variants of the Smile’s Wall Of Eyes landing in the top 15. Dua Lipa’s recent single for “Houdini” also ended up in quite a few collections, claiming the No. 12 spot.
In January 2024, record collectors also grabbed ‘80s pressings of iconic albums from Sade, Tracy Chapman, and Phil Collins. Tracy Chapman’s self-titled debut has been out of print for several years and the ‘80s editions of Sade’s Diamond Life and Phil Collins’ …But Seriously are more readily available and affordable than more recent reissues.
Other notable releases include In Memoriam from the late Silent Servant and a 2004 pressing of Green Day’s American Idiot, which may have seen a surge thanks to the band’s incognito subway performance, the release of their new album, or the 30th anniversary of Dookie.
