Top 25 Best-Selling Records on Discogs in May 2024

The Best-Selling Records of May 2024, featuring releases from Olivia Rodrigo, Pearl Jam, Lil Peep, and Shellac.
The best-selling records on Discogs in May 2024 are a eclectic blend of emo rap, pop, classic rock, and more. There are old releases, reissues, and, of course, limited-edition Record Store Day pressings.
Unsurprisingly, Record Store Day releases still make up the lion’s share of the best-selling releases this month, taking four of the top five spots. Once again, Noah Kahan and Olivia Rodrigo top the Discog charts, closely followed by a repress of Young Thug’s Jeffery, a 7″ of Little Peep’s Star Shopping, and David Bowie’s Waiting in the Sky.
In May, the music community also mourned the loss of the titanic engineer and musician Steve Albini. In the weeks following his passing, records from his bands, Big Black and Shellac, became best-sellers on the site. Shellac’s new record, To All Trains, released several days after Albini’s death, was the second best-selling record on the site last month. Meanwhile another Shellac record containing two John Peel sessions was also in the top ten.
Some recent, non-RSD releases trending on Discogs include Glass Beam’s hypnotizing EP, Mahal, Another Taste’s groovy self-titled, and of course Billie Eilish’s highly-anticipated record Hit Me Hard and Soft.
#1
Stick Season / Lacy
Olivia Rodrigo & Noah Kahan
2024
For the second month, this 7″ split from Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan tops the charts. The Record Store Day exclusive features both artists covering one another while performing in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
#2
To All Trains
Shellac
2024
Released less than two weeks after Albini’s death, Shellac’s To All Trains is a burst of angular noise rock and sardonic humor. A return to form after a decade of no releases, the band’s return comes on 100% recyclable material via Touch and Go Records.
#3
Jeffery
Young Thug
2024
Originally released in 2016, this Record Store Day exclusive is only the second vinyl pressing of Young Thug’s Jeffery. The first round was limited to 2000 copies and dropped in 2016.
#4
Star Shopping
Lil Peep
2024
Lil Peep originally wrote “Star Shopping” in his bedroom at 18. Now fans of the late-rapper can own it and two previously unreleased live versions on this pink and black RSD 7″.
#5
Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth)
David Bowie
2024
Dropping only three spots from last month, this remastered David Bowie release is still a top seller nearly a month after RSD. Waiting in the Sky is a must-own for any Bowie aficionados. It features an alternative track order from The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, plus four songs that didn’t make the final album.
