The 2024 Grammy Nominees for Best Packaging Are…
The Grammy Awards celebrate some of the biggest names in music, but they also showcase lesser-known releases with lavish collectible packaging.
The Grammy awards are often given to the music industry’s most popular artists, but the gold-plated gramophones are also handed out for more niche achievements in deluxe packaging and design that may be of greater interest to collectors.
The nominees below for Best Recording Package and Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package include collector’s gold releases with details like a lenticular 3D cover, a flocked blacklight-sensitive jacket, and hidden messages that are visible with “decoder red” vinyl. Explore these rare and collectible releases nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The Art Of Forgetting
This deluxe pressing of The Art Of Forgetting is referred to as the “audiophile edition,” with clear vinyl that plays at 45 RPM and a gatefold sleeve with a lenticular 3-dimensional cover. Some copies also came with an Art Of Forgetting matchbook that features the album’s cover art.
Hsuan Chang Kitano
The design concept for CADENZA 21’ centers around the 11 instruments featured on the album, which include a nose flute, pipa, erhu, and harpsichord. The album’s geometric representation of global music is represented by the packaging’s artful use of paper cutting.
The “Chronic Edition” of Electrophonic Chronic features a picture disc with a zoetrope design and cover art that is blacklight-sensitive. The album’s fold-out poster is also enhanced when viewed under the influence of a blacklight.
Gravity Falls (Original Soundtrack)

The cover art features rotating discs with cut-outs that can be arranged to reveal different design elements underneath, and the book-like liner notes feature pages that trigger moving pictures as you flip them.
Words & Music May 1965
The inaugural release from Light In The Attic’s Lou Reed Archive Series includes a die-cut book featuring lyrics, archival photos, and liner notes, as well as an archival reproduction of a letter written by Reed to Delmore Schwartz, and pockets in the sleeve that hold the book, CD, and 7-inch included with the release.

The set also includes a package of flower seeds and two plant-growing foam platforms.
