Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in April 2023

Lavish box sets, rare 7-inches, and a hard-to-find jazz album by The Sun Ra Arkestra all cracked the top 25 most expensive items sold in April 2023.

The most expensive items sold on Discogs in April 2023 include a few expansive Pet Shop Boys box sets, rare 7-inches, and two copies each of a Weeknd set and a sought-after record from The Sun Ra Arkestra.

Two different Pet Shop Boys box sets sold for top-dollar last month. Electric is a five-record set housed in a fluorescent-edged acrylic box and Yes includes a smoked perspex box with magnetic fastening, 11 records housed in full-color inner and outer sleeves, and a signed, numbered Giclée print. Other notable box sets include a 38-CD Woodstock collection and a Paul McCartney 7-inch singles set.

Other rare 7-inches that fetched big bucks in April cover a variety of styles, including funk and punk. Funk 45s from artists like Ray Frazier & The Shades Of Madness and Ben And The Tight Squeeze Band inspired a few high-price transactions. An extremely rare punk 7-inch from RF7 not only claimed the number one spot but also set a new highest price paid for this release on Discogs.

The Weeknd and The Sun Ra Arkestra must have been on collectors’ minds last month. Both The Weeknd’s Trilogy and The Sun Ra Arkestra’s Continuation appear on the list twice, meaning two different copies of each release sold for such high sums that they cracked the top 25 for April.
