Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in August 2023
The most expensive list for August 2023 features rare releases from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and David Bowie.
The most expensive items sold on Discogs in August 2023 include private press records, rare 7-inches, and a few collectible box sets.
When you see a release on Discogs that says “Not On Label” under the release details, that means the record was privately pressed without the assistance of an established label. In August 2023, a few different private press records made the list.
The only album from German band Lindwurm topped the list and it’s hard to find a lot of information about this obscure hard rock LP. Since it was able to claim the No. 1 spot, it’s safe to assume that the record is extremely rare. The original pressing of the self-titled album from England’s Glory also cracked the top five as this “Not On Label” pressing was limited to just 25 copies.
Rare punk 7-inches from the Big Boys, The Queers, and Stains — later known as MDC — all inspired punk fans to dig deep into their wallets in August. Serious collectors also snatched up highly-collectible soul 45s from Soul Brothers Inc. and Pat Lewis.
A few box sets also ended up on the August 2023 most expensive list. A 7-LP set featuring the works of Mozart and a Led Zeppelin collection that includes their first four albums cracked the top 25. The Mozart box set was pressed back in 1956, and the Led Zeppelin collection features Quiex SV-P 200 gram vinyl and a single-sided test pressing that contains the legendary song “Stairway To Heaven.”
