Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in February 2023

February 2023’s most expensive releases include Beatles records, limited edition box sets, and a CD that was originally released as a prototype.

The February 2023 most expensive list has arrived and it’s full of classic rock icons, punk records, and mind-blowing rarities.

One of the most intriguing collectible items that sold for top dollar in February is an Abba CD that predates the release of CDs to the general public. This version was one of three prototypes that Polydor produced to test their manufacturing processes and promote the new format. Although it’s highly unlikely that this prototype is playable, it’s a unique piece of music history that makes for a great display piece or conversation starter.

The Beatles took February 2023 by storm and claimed four different spots throughout the top 25. Rare versions of Please Please Me and Hey Jude made the list, along with a 7-inch exclusively made for jukeboxes and a massive box set featuring mono pressings of 11 Beatles albums.

An expansive Roger Waters box set also sold for big bucks in the month of February. The set features live renditions of The Wall recorded between 2010 and 2013. With four LPs, two CDs, three blu-rays, and a photo book, this box set has become a hot collectors item for those looking to experience these performances again and again.

Two versions of The Misfits’ Bullet 7-inch cracked the top 25, with the original pressing from 1978 claiming a spot in the top 3. A rare pressing of 7 Seconds’ The Crew also attracted the attention of a serious punk collector in February. According to the database, the blue green vinyl version featured here is limited to anywhere from 250 – 300 copies.
