Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in June 2023

The June 2023 most expensive list features records with printing errors, rare jazz albums, and hard-to-find 45s.

The June 2023 edition of the most expensive items sold on Discogs includes rare misprints, iconic jazz releases, and highly-collectible 7-inches.

Sometimes a mishap with a release can make it quite the collector’s item, and the June 2023 most expensive list features two sought-after gems with some unique characteristics. The version of The Damned’s debut album featured here has a photo of Eddie & The Hot Rods on the back cover and a sticker that addresses the printing mistake. The pressing of David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold The World included below is the original UK pressing with the evocative “dress cover” and a misspelling of producer Tony Visconti’s name on the center labels. Since these misprints were corrected in later pressings, these particular versions have become increasingly valuable over the years.

Jazz is a staple on the most expensive list and this month’s roundup features more than its fair share of jazz classics. Rare original pressings of albums from the Governor’s State University Jazz Band, Joe Henderson, Eric Dolphy, and Curtis Fuller all ended up in the hands of some serious collectors.

7-inches spanning various genres also made up a substantial part of the June 2023 most expensive list. Soul 45s from Lou Pride, The Nomads, and The Montclairs made the list as well as a post-punk 7-inch from Joy Division and an art rock single from The Velvet Underground.

Additional noteworthy releases include a self-released Alvvays cassette single, an eye-catching Pet Shop Boys box set, and a collection of recordings from Woodstock that spans 38 CDs.
