Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in November 2022

This month’s most expensive releases include obscure psych and prog albums, rare soul 45s, and a self-released free jazz record that features handmade sleeves.
The November 2022 edition of Discogs’ monthly most expensive list features some sought-after psychedelic and prog rock albums, soul singles, and jazz titles that include an ultra-rare LP with mimeographed artwork pasted on the cover.
Obscure psych and prog records often end up on the most expensive list, and November’s breakdown features a few mind-bending gems. The English-sung version of Life’s self-titled album landed a spot for prog rock, while Andwellas Dream’s Love And Poetry placed some psychedelic sounds on the list.
Soul 45s are a most-expensive staple and this month’s list includes 7-inches from artists like The Montclairs, The Imperial C’s, and the aptly-named Soul Experience. Two of these releases inspired high enough price tags to claim spots in the top 10 for November.
Jazz continues to be a popular genre when it comes to collectors dropping some serious dough. Records from jazz legends Freddie Hubbard and Hank Mobley both cracked the top 25, but it’s a free jazz record from the ’70s Boston underground that came in at number one.
Michael Cosmic’s Peace In The World was privately pressed and released in 1975. According to the Discogs Database, some copies include handmade sleeves with a colored drawing and other copies have mimeographed art pasted on with stamped titles. Even though it has been reissued alongside his twin brother’s self-released album, the handmade nature of the original pressing makes this a must-have for die-hard jazz fans.
