Every Day Is Record Store Day: The 25 Most Wanted RSD Releases

Collector’s editions and rare pressings make up the list of the most wanted RSD titles among collectors on Discogs.
As Record Store Day rolls around each year, collectors prepare for a highly anticipated drop of limited-edition albums, exclusive vinyl, and impressive box sets. With the largest online music database and marketplace in the world, the Discogs community can track every RSD release’s price and availability, and find rare gems that remain elusive long after Record Store Day. These are the 25 most sought after RSD releases of all time.
The ranking is determined by how many Discogs users have added the RSD release to their Wantlist, a unique Discogs feature that allows fans to keep track of the music they’re hunting for. The following list features a wide variety of albums, but they all have at least one thing in common: they can each be found in over 2,000 Wantlists of record collectors worldwide.
The nature of Record Store Day creates exclusivity, and some of these releases see very limited pressings and distribution. For example, only 500 copies of Death Grips’ The Money Store were pressed for RSD 2012. Others are sought-after because Record Store Day is the first time the album has been released on vinyl since its debut. Jiro Inagaki and Soul Media’s Funky Stuff was originally released in 1975, but wasn’t reissued on vinyl until Record Store Day 2015. Finally, some coveted RSD releases are simply massive albums from beloved artists. With 10 of the top 25 most wanted RSD releases — including two pressings of 1989 — Taylor Swift’s monumental impact on modern-day record collecting cannot be ignored.
And while some of these records can also be found on the list of the most expensive RSD titles of all time, others remain relatively affordable despite their sought-after status.
