The Best-Selling Records on Discogs in August 2024

Dig into the best-selling records of August 2024, featuring releases from Jack White, The Smile, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, and more.
As summer closes, it’s time to reflect on the best-selling releases of August 2024 on Discogs. One thing is apparent — surprise releases dominated the top two slots of August, including No Name from Jack White and “Don’t Get Me Started / The Slip,” a 12-inch single from the Smile.
The other August trend of note is the steady rise of Chappell Roan. After releasing The Rise And Fall of A Midwest Princess in September 2023, Chappell Roan slowly became a best-selling release on Discogs throughout 2024. Following the release of the “Good Luck, Babe!” single in April of 2024, Chappell Roan has been a steady component of the Discogs weekly and monthly best-selling releases all summer long, and she’s seemingly just getting started.
Other best-selling releases of August include Tracy Chapman, Phil Collins, Oasis, and more. Explore the best-selling records of August below.

No Name
Jack White
2024
Initially released as unmarked vinyl included with purchases at Third Man Records, Jack White officially released physical formats of No Name in the beginning of August, and in the time since, it’s remained on the best-selling rundown at Discogs. The unconventional approach to album release is yet another way that Jack White has been able to shape our listening and collecting habits.
#2
Don’t Get Me Started / The Slip
The Smile
2024
Following the release of Wall of Eyes (which the Discogs community named their favorite release of 2024 so far) earlier this year, the Smile quietly dropped two new tracks on a 12-inch single in early August. Fixtures of the band’s recent setlists, both songs appeared as vinyl-first, in-store exclusives before dropping online.

E2-E4 – A Reference To E2-E4 By Manuel Göttsching
Alex Kassian x Mad Professor
2024
Originally written by Ash Ra Tempel‘s Manuel Gottsching, E2-E4 (named after the chess opening) is an hour-long psychedelic synth track from the ’80s that became an early example of ambient techno. On this “reference,” Alex Kassian takes the original and extends into a heady 12-minute Balearic groove. On the flip, The Mad Professor gets in on the action with a thumping remix of Kassian’s reimagining.

Good Luck, Babe!
Chappell Roan
2024
Chappell Roan’s rapid ascent up the pop charts has unsurprisingly translated to record sales. Good Luck, Babe! is a red 7-inch featuring the title track on Side A and a demo version of “Read & Make Out” on the flip.
#5
The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess
Chappell Roan
2023
The Rise And Fall of A Midwest Princess was released almost a year ago, and although it took some time to catch on, Chappell Roan’s road-hard approach to touring, along with her candid transparency about how tough overnight fame can be to deal with, has paid off in dividends. This single-sided “Popstar Edition” remains in high demand.
