Originally written by Ash Ra Tempel‘s Manuel Gottsching, E2-E4 (named after the chess opening) is an hour-long psychedelic synth track from the ’80s that became an early example of ambient techno. On this “reference,” Alex Kassian takes the original and extends into a heady 12-minute Balearic groove. On the flip, The Mad Professor gets in on the action with a thumping remix of Kassian’s reimagining.
