Top 25 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in December 2022

December 2022’s most expensive releases include rare hip hop and punk records, highly collectable jazz albums, and releases from some of today’s biggest artists.

The most expensive items sold on Discogs in December 2022 include hard-to-find hip-hop records, jazz classics, and a few self-released punk 7-inches.

Out of the 25 releases highlighted here, WestsideGunn records appear three times. Two solo WestsideGunn LPs and a collaboration with The Purist all fetched big bucks and established December 2022 as a memorable month for collectible hip hop.

Jazz releases are scattered throughout the list and a rare record from The Sun Ra Arkestra secured the top spot. Releases from Hank Mobley and Lee Morgan, Kenny Dorham, and Kenny Burrell all claimed additional slots for jazz in December.

Last month’s list also features a few self-released 7-inches that regularly sell for large sums based on their rarity. The Vicious Visions record that made the cut is limited to 109 copies with silkscreened sleeves. The Politicians In My Eyes 7-inch from proto-punk band Death is limited to 500 copies and routinely sells for high prices due to its status as a groundbreaking precursor to the punk movement.
