Ben Gibbard Plays His Favorite Vinyl Records
From post breakup soundtracks to the first music he viewed as “his own,” Ben Gibbard shares some of his favorite vinyl for the Discogs Listening Room.

Most of us start the morning by looking at our phones. Singer/songwriter Ben Gibbard, the creative force behind Death Cab for Cutie (who recently reissued their 2000 album We Have The Facts And We’re Voting Yes on Barsuk Records) and the Postal Service, starts each morning with deep listening.
“I can’t wait to drink coffee, and I can’t wait to put a record on,” says Gibbard.
This approach to deep listening has shaped Gibbard’s eclectic record collecting habits, from how he catalogs his collection to international shopping excursions he’s taken while on tour with his bands.
In this episode of the Discogs Listening Room, Gibbard dug deep into his collection to share some of the records he’s spent time with through the years, from past breakup soundtracks to the first music he viewed as “his own.”
For this edition of the Discogs Listening Room, the Alpha Theta Euphonia 4-Channel Rotary Mixer, Pioneer DJ PLX-1000 Turntable, and Ortofon 2M Red Cartridge were used.
