Selected Ambient Works 85-92
By Aphex Twin
This recommendation by Jason Bakker, Assistant Manager of Space Hall in Berlin, Germany
Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is classic. It manages to sound fresh and retro at the same time. The year 1992 seems a while ago but this record has stood the test of time. A good variety of tracks and moods. Solid represses over the years. Iconic artwork. Enough said.

Recommendation #1
Pre Dawn / Indoors
By Burial
This is an interesting release by Burial that seems overlooked sometimes. It closes gaps between techno, jungle, dubstep, and spaced-out Burial soundscapes. Vinyl tip: It also sounds really good at 33 RPM. Please play it loud. Your neighbors will appreciate it.
Recommendation #2
Weisses Rauschen
Various
This is a nice stomping Berlin underground gem with quirky industrial techno with German vocals for a later hour. Translated lyrics: “At some point there is white noise / Inside there is bright light / Let me listen to your bloodstream until a new day breaks / My skin is my clothes that my bones hold / Naked bodies in muscle / we find shelter in the forest where the sun illuminates us and the farm dog barks happily.” Danke.
Recommendation #3
Conic Sections
XOR Gate
XOR Gate, a.k.a. Gerald Donald, is also known for his work as Dopplereffekt and Drexciya. XOR Gate released this great 12-inch on Tresor in 2018. The sound design is stellar, raw, and unmistakably Gerald Donald. Tracks weave into each other like a journey of never-ending electronic poems. This is a very pleasant record you can play over and over again, flipping from side A to B.
Recommendation #4
Computerwelt
Kraftwerk
A must-have album from the German electronic pioneers. Boing Boom Tschak!

What we love most about Berlin is its very vibrant club culture and nightlife where selectors and DJs often still play vinyl and come to our shop to hang out and discover new things on a regular basis. Along with this scene comes a kind of DIY mentality because people are organizing their own events and vinyl labels mostly based on friendships and the community surrounding music and vinyl.
