Anyone know what the untitled third track is? Is this a pressing of 300 copies? This is what had been indicated on Andrew Liles website when it was for sale there.

In early 1980, with Heman Pathak out of the picture, and John Fothergill and Steven Stapleton disagreeing strongly in terms of artistic direction, Nurse With Wound were fractured. Unsatisfied with second album, To the Quiet Men from a Tiny Girl, Stapleton re-entered the studio to make a new album entirely on his own. It is unknown whether he had plans to continue this - Fothergill is still listed on the sleeve, suggesting the album may have been considered a one-off at the time - but the process led to a much more focused record than the previous two.

Having nobody to jam with this time, Stapleton spent much of the studio time working with abstract sounds, existing music, and tape edits. The bulk of the first side consists of a chopped up jazz piece slowed down beyond recognition, with various layers of sound sprinkled on top. A mellow French pop song appears almost in its entirety at one point, while feedback and distortion take over in the second half of the piece. The repetitive nature of the ultra-slow backing track begins to get grating as the side goes on, but overall there is much more interest and variety here than found on previous group works.

The second side returns to the more abstract approach of the previous album, with squeaking metal (quite possibly Stapleton's beloved drum stool), reversed piano, Crass's Eve Libertine reciting a bleak monologue and a cacophony of French voices. All the elements are meticulously placed in the structure of the track, creating a sinister sonic landscape that surprises at every turn. As an organ drone fades in during the second half, the mood becomes even more foreboding, with a reprise of Libertine's words sounding utterly haunting. Despite being pieced together quickly, the track is an expertly structured sound collage, that showed Stapleton's real musical forte coming through for the first time.

The album was release simultaneously with To the Quiet Men from a Tiny Girl, and despite surface similarities, on deeper listening the pair of albums are quite different, showing a pronounced development in the Nurse With Wound sound. As with other group-era albums, Stapleton considers the album not to be a 'true' NWW record, and as such it has laid dormant without re-release since 1994. At the time of writing, a remastered reissue is overdue, particularly as more clarity would really bring to life what is already a strong album.

Yes, and some people change the bootleg number in 316/500 or 319/500 to re-sale that bootleg as an original copy !
