Really nice pressing for me. No pops, clicks, just clean beauty. Clear vinyl looks good on my acrylic platter too.

The presentation of this LP is fantastic (including the sleeves, art cards etc) but my copy is so noisy that it's barely listenable in parts, particularly on Side A. Honestly it was so bad that I thought something was wrong with my hi-fi setup. Really disappointed in the quality of this pressing, especially given the fact that it's such a beloved album and how lovely the presentation is. I've actually gone and returned my copy because it's that bad.

Nice pressing. The cardboard is of quality, the interior photos are superb, the records are beautiful, but, because there is often a but, the interior sleeves are made of paper and the LPs are middle quality. It's a shame !
Spending time to make this reissue and spoil everything with two paper pockets to insert the discs is a shame and sad.
Hey Mr. Ninja Tune ... it's not for me to buy anti-static interior pockets. You could make an effort and respect the people and the product you are selling. It's not a cover that I buy but records. This is what is most important the discs, isn't it?

So... the paper sleeves leave particles on the records and even with the anti-static brush, it does not remove everything. Suddenly, the records have a few pops due to that. It's sad to have to wash a new LP!
For me LPs are very slightly warped and there is a little breath from start to finish on each side. Nothing bad but it had to be pointed out.
I don't know the sound of the first vinyl pressing so I can't compare the two, but between the CD and vinyl I much prefer listening the CD. It's a calm album and the breath of the vinyl alters the listening of the record. Again, the breath is not pronounced, but it's sufficiently present to be signaled.

To recapitulate, it is a beautiful cover and a pressing which is not extraordinary because it is slightly noisy. Does this come from the quality of the materials used to press the LP I would say yes as none of my old LPs suffer from this problem.
Gentlemen of the house Ninja Tune, you should pay more attention to the content than the container!

Finally, it seems obvious to me that here we are faced with a low quality pressing and that in our time, quality at a price.
If I say that, it is because Ninja Tune offers two versions of this pressing. A European pressing and English pressing. The English pressing (gold) seems to be of better quality but its cost is higher. A version of bad quality for the poor and an other better for the rich or English.
Personally, I find it dishonest, ashamed and unworthy of the respect which owed us!
For me, it's the last record from Ninja Tune that I buy in LP and CD.

The gold vinyl looks stunning, one of the looking coloured vinyl records I own. The pressing itself is sonically decent. Discs are flat and centred, and there is little to no surface noise. The music is dynamic, and the soundstage is pretty wide.

Fantastic album, but this pressing is pretty bad. The first copy I had was unplayable, with noise and ‘hiss’ all the way through side A. The second copy was better, but still fairly noisy. I’m really disappointed, because I love the album!

Could anyone confirm that Child Song is actually on this copy? The track-list doesn't match the photos.

I awaited this album for a long time and frankly it didn't disappoint, it rather impressed me in most areas. I firstly did not expect a case holding all the images and records. It feels like a real package with all the extras. Beautiful images accompany the tracks as explained on the front one. The only real negative about the design being that there is no plastic lining for the record sleeves and no lyrics sheet. They could easily have been written on the back of the images. An unfortunate oversight. But I have to say I love the way they numbered the sides with letters half visible in the corner of each label, highlighting the current one in blue. Tricky to see at first but stylish non the less. To get into the music itself we start off with the mastering which I agree with many is really "mastered". The singing is sharp and clear like the strings and the bass is meaty just like it should be. One of the better I have heard and it genuinely made previously inaudible sounds heard. But where I disagree is in the pressing department. Randomly pops can burst out of your speaker, sometimes with more consistency. Dont fret that its a deal breaker however. It just did not meet expectations. Overall its a sturdy package with few shortcomings and for me an absolutely great one for showing what vinyl is really all about and what it can produce.

Edit: I dont remember exactly in what condition I got my copy but looking now its a little dirtier than I imagined when first reviewing. Take my words about the imperfect pressing with a grain of salt. Some of the more offensive pops are clearly caused by some visible marks I notice now as well. Make sure the records are shiny and clean when buying.

Update:
Comparing with my 2017 Chris Bellman cut I surprisingly find this to be preferable still. I love his work but even though there is a little better mid range and separation this Zen cut has better bass and is cut louder to mask more surface noise. Not to mention the extra material being superior in the box set.
