Label from Panama, founded in 1963 by Rodrigo De Jesús Escobar Tamayo, led the musical movements of "Combos Nacionales" (Latin, Calypso, Funk and Tropical), "Música Típica" (accordion), "Rock en Español" and Folk music. In 2010 it was declared the official records label of the Republic of Panama by the National Institute of Culture (INAC).
Posted logos: first 2 ones (red & black) are used since 2001 (Spanish and English versions: Discos Tamayo & Tamayo Records), then logo used from 1983 to 2003, the the last 2 ones are the logo used from 1963 to 1983.
Tamayo bought the label Discos Istmeños in 1983.
