Formerly part of Time Warner, the Warner Music Group was purchased in March 2004 by Edgar Bronfman, Jr. and a group of equity firms, including Access Industries Inc., a conglomerate owned by Leonard Blavatnik. It became publicly-traded company in 2005. Access Industries reacquired it in 2011 and is now its wholly-owned company. It is now the world’s largest privately held major music company.
