WEA

WEA is an acronym for Warner Elektra Atlantic. The acronym was introduced in early 1972 when Warner Communications' international music division Kinney Record Group International was renamed WEA International Inc.. All subsidiary companies outside the US eventually changed their names accordingly - compare for example Kinney Record Group Ltd. and WEA Records Ltd., Kinney Music Of Canada, Ltd. and WEA Music Of Canada, Ltd., or Kinney Music GmbH and WEA Musik GmbH.

As a label, WEA was introduced in some markets in the late 1970s.
