Only after all these years i realise this has quite some similarities to Lil' Louis' I Called U, both musically and lyrically. Could it be he took a bit of inspiration from this song, as his song was released a year after this one? comentando You're Gonna Miss Me (12", 45 RPM) MV-0036
Absolute classics and huge tune back in the days. Great baseline and piano - no surprise given Paul and Hippie's contributions. And the lyrics are alright and quite applicable for when we were in our early twenties back in the late 80's. Worth having 2 records and making your version.- Editado hace 4 años

I hate the word, though this was one of the most seminal tracks for house. In the year which really defined house music when it first went truly global & popular (and in the UK particularly), "You're Gonna Miss Me" set the clear, simple club form away from the so-called "heart-throb" Freestyle R&B songs of the mid-80s club sounds and more in line with the electro freestyle which had developed alongside it (associated more with street dancing and breakdancing in the mid 80s, sometimes also BMX culture).
So whether garage or Chicago or Detroit house, the much looser, more disco R&B house music of Knuckles' early 80s Warehouse, NY's Paradise Garage etc was set up to become techno or electro orientated, even if just with a piano riff, basic drums and a soulful or rhythmic club vocal.
You knew you were experiencing something which had really just come to be (though it had grown gradually over time, with its various parts and influences, into this) if you heard this great piece of house in 88. Now the animal was fully born at last. Experience it really beginning to live in this most important year of all for house music. - Editado hace 2 años

From the very start of this record you know you are in for a quality absolute all time classic house tune, it has everything that you could want in a record & so much more. It starts with a lovely little piano line, building with the kick, bass etc, and the vocal just really sets it off, all crafted together to create one of the finest records of its kind. Big Big tune back in the day, grab a listen & you will find out why … Gonna miss me when am gone !!! You might have guessed one of my all time favourites !! comentando You're Gonna Miss Me (12", 45 RPM) MV-0036
Hippie Torales and Paul Scott's 12" epitomizes everything that 'classic' deep house/garage was about: songs not tracks, crisp, stomping piano chords, rubber-band basslines. Check Torales' phone conversation with his girlfriend in Spanglish and the mood change in the music. A stone floorslammer.- A beautifully produced house record. Great piano riffs for the old style househeads. Very catchy tune. A classic.
