The Space Brothers, Chakra, Lustral, Ascension, Force Majeure, Essence, Oxygen...
The list of pseudonyms for Ricky & Steve is quite a long one, and as anyone with a passing interest in Trance will attest to it's one full of absolute quality.
Their production standards were excellent, but where they truly excelled was in their songwriting. Chakra was, to be honest, their "favourite child".
Every Chakra song is an absolute masterpiece, but with "Love Shines Through" they excelled themselves. 21 years after release it still retains the same emotional punch, and the production hasn't dated at all.
It's became quite the unspoken vocal Trance Anthem, not as obvious as contemporaries (such as Happiness Happening or Hear You Calling) but equally as powerful.
Remixes have of course been provided over the years, but the original mix still holds its head high.
A prime example of pure class from the 1999 Trance Golden Age.
Suprisingly, there's no comment on this HUGE release! After hearing real trance music for the first time back on Ferry Corsten's Innercity mix-cd, it was this track that hooked me on to trance music...since then there has been no way back for me what electronic music is concerned. This track has a nice uptempo bassline, combined with the classical "close your eyes and spread your arms and get into a trance" feel, moreover it features an "emotional" vocal. Too bad these tracks belong to the past, but luckily i've got it on vinyl ;)
