I don't know where these stories come from because no one knows how many actually came off the presses unless they worked at the MCA plant in Cornwall. 500 to 1000 copies seems very low for a 45 that spent time in the RPM Top 100.

This single really needs to see an official reissue at some point. I'm guessing that either the tapes are lost, the band has forgotten about recording these songs, or they're simply embarrassed by them now.

I have seen about 15 of the rare 45's and have noticed that they all have a small pressing defect on the song "Not Fade Away" (you can see it, and there are a few small pops). I read somewhere that all the pressings have this and it is one of the ways to know its authentic. Both of the copies I own have it, and obviously its in the same place on all the copies. My observation is if your copy does not have this then it is not genuine.

This has also been pirated recently not just on red vinyl but on black and it looks very similar too the original, but missing the etches in the matrix which the original has.

Promos had applied stickers (no white labels issued). Original drummer John Rutsey on both tracks. Probably 500-1000 copies although opinions differ. Energetic, well-produced, kick-ass version of Buddy Holly tune. Strange that there's very little mention of this issue in documentaries, interviews and publications although the Moon label first lp is discussed freely. The rarest issued Rush vinyl. Recently pirated on red vinyl.
