Yves Deruyter – The Rebel

Well, it's hard to write a review on this one. It's the kind of "anthem-like" trance track that started to pop up in the late 90's, but it still stands out in my heart after all those years ! Sure, some elements might seem a bit cheesy, especially that intro part... but all things taken together, it's a belgian classic. Why ? Because every element is memorable, even this weird intro bassline. The main strength of the track is of course the tremendous dreamy melody, combied with a terrific use of pluck basses. And the break is just pure pleasure, the way things are fading and rising is fantastic. No remix can be seen as worthwhile, aside from the Randy's one on this original release, less dancy, taking a more emotional take on the melody, quite interesting to hear as well !
