- Edited 17 years agoWhat can be said about these three amazing tunes? 'Bluster of the Storm' was written by H.W. Mallon, but 'Theme of Agony' and 'A Binary Star' were written with the aid of a certain Dennis Waakop Reijers - the influence behind many of the early DJ Tiesto remixes.
The main A-Side is 'Bluster of the Storm', and this is a fairly laid back track until single piano notes can be heard which together signal the beginning of the track's build-up at 3.57. The breakdown is not euphoric but has catchy techno melodies lingering behind the piano instrumentation.
The crowning jewel of this release, and perhaps the entire ITWT back catalogue, is the 10-minute epic 'A Binary Star'. It featured on the ITWT Collectors' Edition Double CD in 2004, and it is not hard to see why it is so revered by those in the know. It is catchy from the outset with its uniquely playful tune, but from around 4.09 the track gets into its real stride as it builds up slowly into what can only be described as a minute-long crescendo of synth-led euphoria as can only happen in trance! At around the 6.15 mark, it slows back down into its playful build up again before making a final euphoric supernova as the track leads to its end.
Theme Of Agony is a different track altogether with more minimal traits and less pleasing to the ear musical structure compared with the kind of sounds witnessed earlier in the EP.
This is probably the finest release on ITWT. A must-have for your collection!
