''Orange theme'' is pretty boring and awful in my opinion and i can't understand why this one became so classic here and has so much demand. I had never heard this track before and it is nowhere as good as his earlier trance masterpieces he made on Eye Q such as Brainchild - Synfonica, Superstring, Positron, or even ''Symmetry'', which those tracks were the tracks of my youth, loved them from the first time i heard them in '93, as well as the eye q label which is my favorite trance label of all times, with so many classics.
Besides, this ''Orange theme'' track produced at the time when trance music had already start going the downhill production wise in 1994 and becoming repetitive and pointless.
The best year for oldskool trance was 1993 actually.

The Orange Theme by Cygnus X is a classic piece of Electronic music. I can imagine it would have added a few extra Deutsche Marks in Sven Väth's bank account!

My favourite remix is by Blu Peter, slightly faster with that Nu-NRG atmosphere that he became famous for. Plus that unrefined old school Acid riff is a banging mid section. The Red Jerry's ProleKult Mix, which is perfectly fine, takes a vocal sample from Yothu Yindi's 1991 Indigenous Australian anthem, Treaty. I'm assuming Red Jerry's remix is how The Orange Anthem got licensed to his label, Hooj Choons, which is how I first bought this song on vinyl.

It's probably a big coincidence, but is there a connection between all the 1999 remixes done by Dutch artists and Orange being the national colour of The Netherlands.....

If anyone is interested, Cygnus X is a massive breeding ground for the creation of stars in the constellation of Cygnus. In contrast, Cygnus X-1 is the closest Black Hole to our solar system being 1000 light years away.

I think it's quite interesting that the genesis of the song stems from the death of Queen Mary II of England, Scotland and Ireland in the 17th Century!

Introspective is one of the Eye Q 90's trance greats that was forgotten and eclipsed by the more club Orange chocolate biscuit Theme.

So champion Introspective all the way - Beautiful !

Do though check out legend Blu Peter's remix of The Orange Theme on the UK Eye Q label. Nice bit of acid towards the end gotta have that :)

One of the best classical techno-trance themes. My guess is that it is techno-trance at its best. Unforgettable, but then again we must remember that the original melody was created by the genious Purcell, and beautifully worked by Wendy Carlos on the "Clockwork Orange" famous theme.

I've always considered "The Orange Theme" a turd in Eye Q's catalogue. It's crude, in-your-face and unsophisticated, and reeks of UK superclubs and "Now that's what I call trance" compilations.

But the flip side of this original release is magnificent. See, "Introspective" is just that - a pensive, poignant track imbued with the kind of warm melancholy often heard in the best early 90's trance. You needn't waste your time on the overplayed A side - this is the real deal. Beautiful.

It seems so obvious when you realise it. "Orange Theme" is based on the theme music for the movie "The Clockwork Orange" composed by Wendy Carlos.
