i think i may add something to that topic, it seems it doesn't explain the date in brackets.
So the first date is release date in Japan.
The date in brackets is "original release date" of foreign company which licensed the release to Japan. This date can be used to learn European release dates btw, but it is not the very first original date of release! If a release was issued in the UK on 1st of September and in Germany on 5th of September, then licensed for Japanese market by German company, the "original release date" in brackets will be the German release date.
The last date (from 6 months to 2 years after the release), as was said, is the final day the CD must be sold at the OBI price as fixed by the Japanese law. Then stores can give discounts.

I've wondered this for years! Thanks. I had thought perhaps the later date meant a release would go out of print on that date, but the pricing thing makes much more sense.

btw, while the first two dates are normally printed in rectangle on the back of OBI, the 3rd date often appears at the front of OBI - this sometimes leads to mistakes:
