Eurythmics

Profil:
Very successful British synthpop duo: Annie Lennox (b. December 25, 1954, Aberdeen, UK) and David A. Stewart (b. September 9, 1952, Sunderland, UK). They first recorded together as members of new wave band The Catch (2) who would change their name to The Tourists and enjoy two UK top ten hits in early 1980, but disband before the year was out. In 1981, Lennox and Stewart made their debut as Eurythmics, though they struggled to gain recognition at first, only breaking through with their sixth single "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)". This was the turning point of their career, and they continued to be one of the leading synth groups throughout the eighties. After a long period of solo activities in the early and mid-90s Eurythmics re-united for one album and charity world tour in 1999 and in 2004 for the release of extended, remastered and repacked editions of their previous albums and a second hits compilation. Eurythmics released one song (b-side of "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" by Annie Lennox & Al Green) under the alias "The Spheres Of Celestial Influence", a name considered before naming themselves Eurythmics.

Note: There are combined audio & video masters for Savage, Greatest Hits and Ultimate Collection.

Why is the main image that pre-fame "in the garden" era shot?
Why not the definitive Annie with orange hair and dave with his suit ?
And also why are the albums and everything else in the wrong order not chronological ?

Shouldn't be the sequence of the albums in the sequence they had release? The Album SWEET DREAMS released in January 1983, the album Touch in November 1983.

In 1983, their look was just as striking as their sound, but nobody could dismiss the music: warm and soulful melodies married to spare and mechanical synthesized strings.
Almost two decades later, Annie Lennox's voice is still unmistakable, and Dave Stewart's composing retains a touch of twisted genius.

Electro pop pioneers without a doubt - early LPs included razorsharp singles and superb album-only tracks such as "No Fear, No Hate, No Pain (No Broken Hearts)" (a personal fave) and "This City Never Sleeps". However as the 80's progressed their stadium anthem/"we're REAL musicians, we can rock too!" tendency gradually took over (archtypical 80's band fate, that), and manifested itself in one of the worst songs ever recorded by anyone, "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves".

I don't know what Dave has been up to since and I don't care, Annie however recorded "Love Song For A Vampire", which was bloody fantastic, and some other things. Go girl.

The group as obscure as they became legendary. Operating with eclectic tention bound to perfection, the duo produced a stunning body of work, of which their ealry albums, singles and b-sides testify the strength and the beauty of their pulse. Pre-dating house and techno beats, mixing new wave into rock, flirting with funk, jazz, calipso and gospel, this dynamic duo still receives a deserved welcome everytime you put their music on.
