Jean-Pierre Danel

Jean-Pierre Danel, born June 4th 1968 in La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire, is a French guitarist, record producer, composer, songwriter and author. He is the best-selling instrumental guitarist in France. A self-taught musician, he began his career at just 14 years old in 1982 and has since achieved numerous chart successes.
His album Guitar Connection reached No.1 in 2006 and was certified platinum, followed by Guitar Connection 2 (No.8, gold-certified). In 2010, Out of the Blues, a duet album featuring 24 guest artists including Louis Bertignac, Laurent Voulzy, Axel Bauer, Michael Jones, Paul Personne, and Hank Marvin, was also certified gold. He has collaborated with Queen’s Brian May as well.

In 2016, Guitar Tribute reached No.7, and the DVD All You Need is Live topped the charts and earned a double platinum award. Danel has placed around thirty singles on the charts in France and internationally, including on the U.S. Billboard. His 2017 album Génération Guitare entered the Top charts, and in 2020, Côté Jazz hit No.1 on the Jazz Albums Chart, followed by The Hit List and The Best of, both reaching No.1 on the Back Catalogue Chart.

In 2021, the DVDs Guitar Story and Hats Off to the Boys were both certified gold, as were Guitar Video Connection and the triple album Guitar Safari. In 2024 and 2025, his three Nu-rock-beat singles—a blend of rock guitar and dance production—reached No.6, No.8, and No.11 on the national club charts, and No.1, No.2, and No.2 on the national Electro charts.

Alongside his career as a guitarist, Danel has also built a prolific career as a producer. In 2024, he was awarded a multi-diamond disc for 35 years in the industry, with 26.2 million records sold and a total of 207 gold and platinum certifications.

He is the son of the French pop singer Pascal Danel and the nephew of opera-, and movie director Jean-Pierre Ponnelle.
He is the owner of Puzzle Productions, which was created in 1989.
