Laurie Mayer used to work with William Orbit and Rico Conning in the band Torch Song during the mid-eighties.
Later Orbit's solo career as a performer and producer took off, and Mayer didn't release anything until Torch Song again recorded the album "Toward The Unknown Region" in 1995, this time with a radically different sound.
In 2007 Mayer released her first solo album, "Black Lining", on her own Theomorph-label. Some of the tracks were mixed by Orbit, and the whole album was produced by Conning and Mayer. So in reality it's kind of a Torch Song-record.
