alright so i have a story,

I was in a town (San rafael) near San Francisco, walked into a goodwill and I don't know for the life of me to this day why i did this but i looked through the cds there to see if i can find something to listen to. this particular store had ZERO artists that I've heard of, just a huge pile of randomness, except one cd. I couldn't believe my eyes on the first sight of this, It was a hand made demo from Steve miller, his first album, the bonus cd of "speck of gold" with name and contact info included. I lit up with so much joy and took it to the register to pick it up for only 5 bucks. As i walked outside feeling light as a feather, i look around only to notice my $500.00 bike was stolen right in front of the store. i was extremely upset but now that i look back, I'm still glad i walked in there.

I wasn't too sure what I was getting myself into when I typed "Afterlife" into an Audio search! As you may already know, I always look for the dreamiest kind of music and the concept of the afterlife is quite an intriguing one, to say the least. And I couldn't be more greatful for the curiosity that sparked from this word! I hoped that someone would use the name in just the right way and this has been proved by the man himself: Steve Miller.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every production of his that I have aurally witnessed. From his random remixes to his stunning albums that ooze with class. It is very hard to pick a favourite from this guy, production or remix-wise. But I'd say that some of his best work is found on his albums "Simplicity Two Thousand" and "Speck Of Gold".

It's also interesting to see which other artists have remixed his tracks as they tend to evoke a similar style of enchanted relaxation in their works. What I like most about what I hear is that there are usually some very evident influences of Latin sounds in both the remixes (by Steve and by other artists) and Afterlife's own original versions. Also, when looking for tracks, there are sometimes a few rare exclusives hidden inside selective compilations.

Seek out all that you can by this guy! He is extremely talented. I can only hope to accomplish as much success as he has recieved for so long in the years ahead. Great work, Steve!

This guy produces gold after gold of magical tunage. No wonder his 2004 album was titled "Speck Of Gold"! Everything I've heard by him has been amazingly good. It's great for putting you in a nice dreamy mood and it makes for some good dancing music too.

However, some of the real hidden gems are his remixes. There have been so many and I hope there shall continue to be! So far, I've heard remixes of Banda Sonora's "Guitarra G", Amber's "Sexual", Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance", Jakatta's "American Dream" and Shakedown's "At Night" and I've gotta say that it's hard to have a favourite because they are all so good in many different ways!

If you've just started getting into Lounge and Chillout music (much like me), then I advise you to seek out Afterlife music as soon as possible! And just in case you're in any confusion about the Afterlife remix of Sydenham & Ferrer's "Sandcastles", that was done by another Afterlife identifyable as "Afterlife (6)" here on Discogs. It too, is a very good remix!
