François Lilienfeld

François Lilienfeld, born in Lausanne in 1946, has been active as musician and researcher in the field of Yiddish Music for almost 50 years. He was given concerts in Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, England and the USA, as well as appearing on radio and television. He has made several recordings. In addition to the Yiddish Song Collection "A Krants Scheyne Lidlech", François Lilienfeld is responsible for another project: An Anthology presenting Music of the Eastern European Jews, historic recordings estored to new life on a series of CDs.
François Lilienfeld is the programme director of the bi-annual Festival of Yiddish Songs and Klezmer Music in Fuerth (Bavarian). In January 1993 he became Chasan (Cantor) at the Jewish Congregation of Giessen (Germany).
François Lilienfeld is also a free lance journalist, writing articles and producing radio programmes on a variety of subjects: Jewish music, Folklore of other cultures, "Trad" Jazz and Classical Music.
