Cannonball Adderley – Somethin' Else

Question for y'all: recorded in mono, remastered in stereo? Is that the case? 1958 sesh.

Excellent mastering and good overall pressing. Slightly warped with no effect on sound. A significant nonfill section seen on side 1, but is hardly audible- luckily. Plays well, and mostly quiet.

I think this is on par with Kind of Blue. It's that good. Seems modal also. Laid back vibes. Amazing horns recording. Even Blakey is on decaf for this sesh.

Sound quality is fantastic - crisp, clean and clear (with exception being the usual RVG cardboard piano). Sax and trumpet pierce through on the solos. Drums exciting with a groove to them.

An enjoyable listen.

This record sounds very good to excellent, I'm more than happy with this version. I don't play this one often enough to consider the audiophile versions for 3x the price.
I don't experience any surface on my copy....

Anyone else getting left channel distortion on the first 15 seconds of A1? I’ve tried three copies and get the same crackling distortion at the exact same spot on all of them.

I bought mine close to release date and it sounds great, its clean, flat and the mastering is balanced, crisp and has a nice soundstage definitely recommend at a fair price… that being said I would definitely beware of these 75th anniversary reissues overall they are not well remastered or pressed but their are some gems to be found, stick with the 80th reissues they are much better in fact they are excellent in every way!

It sounds amazing but again the quality control ruins it, I have had two copies both with non-fill type distortion throughout side 1(oddly I can't see the non-fill but the random distortion noises sound like it). Cleaning made no difference. I would rather Blue Note released this again as either a Tone Poet or added to the cost to get it pressed properly. The cover doesn't bother me, it is lightweight but at least that turned up without damage.

Really curious whether or not Kevin Grey did a remaster for this that differs from the one he did in 2014 for the music matters release, or if it's the same?

So far the best sounding BN classic series I’ve heard. Really really well done here in my opinion through every system I put together to listen to it through!!!
