Thierry Robin – Gitans

This came out at the exact same time as the Tony Gatlif film "Latcho Drom," that described in music the journey of gypsies from Rajasthan, through the middle east and central Europe, to Andalusia. The songs were raw and distinct from each region around half the globe, and only listening to all of them in sequencing you got the mix. Try and get that film's soundtrack to realise just how insanely brilliantly Titi Robin merges ALL this music in just 15 tracks here, in every track. Magnificent playing, recording and mastering too, but the miracle is how this goes from Indian tablas to klezmer, back to the middle east, and return to flamenco via Parisian accordion, often within the same track. A standout, and one of the few of the many 90s "modern" world music albums that totally works on every level.

Probably one of the best arabic-gipsy music album ever recorded. Smooth blend between Oud, guitars and gipsy voices.
