"Sounds like vintage electronica, looks like vintage electronica..."
Seven and a half years ago I published an on-line collection of electronic music that had taken me many months to locate and track down. Music produced in bedrooms around the world between 1980-89 performed on synths & drum machines and recorded and distributed on compact cassette.
Eleven volumes (including two devoted to 1970-79 and 1990-99 respectively) have showcased and analysed dozens of tracks by dozens of artists. The pdf guides that come with the downloads have featured interviews, essays, artist profiles and a ridiculous amount of vintage ephemera.
Life eventually got in the way, but 2020 has afforded me enough spare time to curate this present volume before I devote my time and energies to other ventures. I had previously said never again but, well, here we are... The Bedroom Cassette Masters' series will remain online for posterity as an entertainment, a resource and a testament to the many artists who created all manner of electronic music - both beautiful and ugly - in their bedrooms so long ago.
Volume 11 is partly a clearing out of the Bedroom Cassette Masters cupboard and includes tracks that were unreleased for a variety of reasons.
