i mean the complette Labyrinth series was the best releases in the last Fax years....

    Hap christmas to all. vok

    tcordes
Listening to my faves from the Labyrinths. Pete, thank you for continuing to put out such stellar releases right until the end. It will forever have us wondering what might have been...

Labyrinth 3 - track 8 is especially fitting for the moment. Fighting back the tears...

Agree lads. The Labyrinth series, for me, is some of the best FAX music. In fact, best music ever. Fitting that this was some of Pete's most recent work. AND cheers to Lorenzo also, obviously.

I am going to listen to all 5 in sequence over Christmas. It will be sad but also uplifting.

    Merry Christmas to all FAXheads

My ma gave me The Four Seasons MP3 Collection for Christmas :-). Just checked out all five albums. Wasn't sure if I would like all of them to be honest , having heard some snippets. But this was a needless concern. Brilliant stuff, loving the environmental aspects and some really beautiful music. Just a shame I could not buy direct from Pete and FAX as I had asked about this set last time I spoke to him via mail. :-( :-(.

Currently- Subconcious Worlds. First listen on headphones, on my new ipod touch. Wow, what an album this is.

First music of the new year....

62 Eulengasse............possibly the greatest ever FAX album in the world.

Great way to start the new year but sad also.

I've decided to listen to the entire catalog again. an hour commute on the subway to and from work is perfect for me to hit at least 2 albums a day with quality headphone listening. I thought about going in order but think that it's better to go at random.

So far - Xangadix, Arizona tracks (both today), Outland, Psychonavigation 1,2 and 3, Autumn of Communion (such a killer release at a time like this. Feels like classic FAX, but NEW). Labyrinth 1-5.

That all being said - I digitized the catalog before I sold what was a mostly complete collection and have since bought virtually anything that was available. The only thing I haven't found (admittedly a bit of a quick search only) has been Gamma. Any suggestions?

I'm relistening to a lot of Fax because it's feel right plus releases that didn't appeal in the past have a habit of suddenly doing so. It's almost like you have to wait until you're 'ready' in some way...

Anyway, have just finished listening to one of my faves - Namlook IV. This has some of the most beautiful Namlook melodies and i'll never tire of it.

Hi,, like you can know from the last weeks it´s very hard to find any Fax release for sale. I´m looking 2350 broadway original pw05 (i already have the aw reissue) to complete my lovely fax collection. I have the most rariest fax albums except 2350 broadway. Please if anybody has a second copie for sell, let me know

Just listened to Winter. Highly appropriate just now and very atmospheric recording.

Now playing my new purchase. Elektronik II. First track is utterly magnificent ! Three others are a bit more beat orientated/ industrial possibly, than my usual FAX ambient fare. Enjoying the album though and think it will be one I play frequently.

Ariel Services Area (1) another ambient gem. Never did pick up the ASA 2, but if its anything like one, will be soon. Also been listening to: Outer Dark(PS), Music To Films(PS), Escspe, Atom Heart Live at I/S/C (PS). 4cds I previously bought then stupidly sold (FAX was totally different to the trance clubby techno music I listened back then); which I recently picked up again for an increased price. Did cost a fortune but am so glad I have these rare gems with me again! All quality albums ..Now playing Steve Stoll - Exiled, and a excellent minimal techno album it is too. Actually liked all Steve's albums on FAX, though some FAX fans were against its techno sound.

Hey Player, I am planning to pick up some of Steve's back catalogue. I listened to 'The Blunted Boy Wonder' for the first time in ages the other day and loved it. I suppose I vaguely assumed that his albums on Fax were ambient. Would you recommend I start with Exiled?
  • player over 5 years ago

There all good in there minimal techno way. If you liked 'The Blunted Boy Wonder' all his FAX albums should appeal to you, though 'Earthling' is mostly bestless ambient. 'Exiled is worth picking first, and then, 'Zero Point Crossing' (which really grew on me). 'Was Here' is a good techno album, I liked it for what it is, but has a divided opinion.
  • Kracker over 5 years ago

hated the Steve Stoll albums. Really it's all mundane techno that wouldn't have gotten any attention had to not been released on FAX. 'Exiled' has its moments though so i would recommended that if anything.

Definitely feeling some albums that I had thought previously I was a bit indifferent too. the first Move D/Namlook collab in particular I enjoyed much more than I remember

That's what happened to me!..There's been a few FAX albums I thought I never liked at first, but did give them a re-listen a few weeks/months later and did end up really liking them, eg: Ariel Service Area 1, Music For Ballet, Dreamfish 2, Sad World 2, Gate/Sol..etc. Just so glad I never quickly sold them after a one/two listening judgement as did with albums below!!!

Recently bought again!: Escape, Live at I/S/C, Outer Dark, Music for Films, Bedroom, Shades of Orion - all originally owned on release date, then sold because I wasn't into them, or have the listening patience as I was mainly into rhythmic trance (though was also getting into The Orb ambient-dub back then). Have now recently re-bought them (sold my kidney!). I've now rediscovered the beauty within in these albums with there unique sound and listening experience. Paid quiet a bit but am really glad to have them back!!!

Currently listening to The Evolution Of Move D/Namlook mixed album released on FAX AW. A collection of Move D/Namlook tracks taken from their collaboration FAX albums. A kind of quiet under the radar release which was never really mentioned that this album has the same special treatment as with Ambient Cookbook II where tracks are mixed, combined, edited, and tweaked; this giving the album a whole new listening experience rather then a collection of tracks phased into each other as on most mixed compilation albums...Don't know why it was not released as a FAX PK release, as with Ambient Cookbook II, rather then an AW release!

I'm currently listening to "Music for Babies". It's sounds kinda unfinished, and the Silence V sample (which shouldn't disappear like it does...) makes it looks even worse, but last track "Dreaming Away" calms me down, so I can only recommend this tune. Whole album is not worth buying.

Jet Chamber II - a underrated classic!
  • slntwtchr over 5 years ago

I'm still making my way through the entire catalog. But, man...listening to it this way (generally at least one album a day) has kept everything fresh in my mind to realize just how amazing a job Pete did with this label. Both his work and the other artists he chose to release. Regardless of changes, decreased output, 5.1 expense or whatever the totality of what Pete did really was amazing. To think that (for me anyway) there are so few releases that I'm apathetic to in a catalog this size...

anyway - From Within I was up today. Psychonavigation on the way home.
