Hello and thanks for using vinylscrobbler.com!

Please feel free to post feedback and suggestions for the site, here on the Discogs group.

I will be investing some time over the summer months on fixing all the little bugs, and more excitingly adding some new features - let me know what you'd like to see!

    Cheers

Biggest annoyance for me so far has been that tracklists on VS don't update unless the *length* of the Discogs tracklist changes (from what I've seen).

Anyway, love the site a lot! Thanks for continuing to work on it, and for creating the group.

Love using the site. I wish it was possible to scrobble collaborative albums as both artists instead of just the first listed. E.g. Ty Segall & White Fence currently scrobble as just Ty Segall. Thanks for all your work on it.

Thanks Iain for the site! I use it almost daily and am excited about where you take it in the coming months. As a lover of profile statistics, it would be great to see some basic profile data similar to what is already added for most scrobbled album. For example - number of total scrobbles, most scrobbled artist, etc.

I also echo jaccarmac above on the track length issue.

    Thanks!

Hi everyone and thanks for chipping in already :)
jaccarmac - interesting, i haven't come across this before I will definitely investigate   lungtanner - I feel your pain on this one - definitely on my todo list   djxfactor511 - that's a cool idea - might look at adding this to the profile pages!

From now on, i'll probably make a separate thread for releases and new feature announcements.

    Cheers.

The specific example I'm thinking of is with Spawn (17) - Dance Of The Lunatics. The track lengths and names are fixed now, but when I updated them in October the changes were not reflected in time to fix my scrobbles, as seen here: https://www.last.fm/user/jaccarmac/library/music/Spawn/_/Back+On+The+Track. It's not a Last.fm autocorrect issue as the correct track exists as well: https://www.last.fm/music/Spawn/_/BACK+ON+TRACK. Not sure when that release updated as I haven't spun it since October, but as you can see the cover art is still not up-to-date with the Discogs page.

Love the site; use it a lot.

It would be great to be able to scrobble compilations/albums with various artists. I've also noticed that it skips tracks listed with different "movements", we'll call them; for example, "Lincoln Hall Potpourri" on this album: https://www.discogs.com/Khruangbin-Live-At-Lincoln-Hall/release/12799985. And more detailed stats on the profile page, as mentioned, are always interesting.

Love it. Have been a user for ages! Thanks for the work you've put into it.

This is quite a popular request too, definitely worth prioritising i think - thanks for the feedback 👍

I love this web app. These are my suggestions

    1. Add a feature to scrobble per side on top of scrobbling the full album
    2. Post to Twitter isn’t working
    3. Native app would be awesome
    4. Have you considered opening up the source code?

    Hi Lucas!

    1. this is a popular request, but gets complicated when we consider counting "album scrobbles" which only makes sense if you scrobbled the full thing. I'm not ruling it out completely though.
    2. Thanks for the heads up!! i'll investigate..
    3. An iOS app is a possibility in the medium term, but first there's a lot to be fixed and tidied up on the web side, to lay the foundations for that.
    4. No, this is not something I'm considering right now.

    Cheers and happy scrobbling!

Really great tool, just learned about it last week. For the past few years I've been using scRYMble, which is tied to rateyourmusic.com. However I haven't been able to use it on my work computer for years, so it's nice to have an alternative.

One question for now and potentially a request - what is the time zone? I don't see a way to specify it. I just scrobbled an album and didn't see it show up in my last.fm listening history, until I went another page back and saw it at a time I wasn't expecting. Is there a plan to let users set their time zone?

    Hey sidewinder,

I'm glad you mentioned this - Short answer: Europe/London.

I'm currently preparing a whole separate thread (!) about this to gather peoples thoughts and experiences. This has been a known issue for some time.

The solution i'm working on will allow you to correctly set your own timezone, for all future scrobbles. It may be possible to update historical times on vinyslcrobbler.com - but I definitely won't be able to rectify anything on the last.fm side - sorry about that!

Awesome, thanks! Just knowing that helps me adjust the listening time in order to submit for the right time in my listening history. Looking forward to the eventual update.

    Hi!
Thanks for the website, I'm using it daily also.
When you have time, could you add a feature of what to scrobble? For instance, only one side.
Also, there are albums that don't import all tracks. For instance, this one : https://www.discogs.com/John-Cale-Words-For-The-Dying/release/1887146
    Cheers

I'd like to second  sonofapun's second point, which seems to be related to index tracks (which seem to be common on classical releases, of which I do not have many). The record that piques my interest is https://vinylscrobbler.com/a/hilary-hahn/6-partitas/83450, though https://vinylscrobbler.com/a/lloyd-miller/oriental-jazz/79370 is also a little weird.

I really like your site so much that it is bookmarked on my web browser. Much of the vinyl I own is classical/jazz so to be able to add from Discogs has been fantastic! Thanks Lain!

Why does The Downward Spiral scrobble as Skylab?
  • whoisthefourthman 12 days ago

    Also love the site.
  • lungtanner 11 days ago

I have the same question for Lou Reed - Transformer. Always scrobbles as Skylab.

    Hi iainmullan,

Loving the VS website so far.

I would love to see more statistics (if possible) such as:

Most scrobbled releases (for the whole website)
Most scrobbled artists (for the whole website)
Most collected releases (for the whole website)
Trending releases (for the whole website)
