This is one of the all time great releases of electro-industrial, a truly genre defining album. A remastered edition is welcome, and my only reservation would concern its packaging. IMHO, it would have benefitted from first and foremost also including the two non-album tracks "Sepsis" and "Friction" from the "Eye over you" MCD. After all, it was on this album and that maxi that Haujobb featured its original line-up, including Jünemann, and the music had a bit more playful attitude compared to the later, more pretentious material. The tracks on the extra CDM included in this package don't really add anything to this early milestone, in fact added remixes/ bonustracks seem to dilute the essence and weaken the integrity of an album (when you refer to an album, you'd want people to know which versions of the song you're referring to; remixes should ideally be lifted out to separate maxis and EPs). Although "Manifestation" of course is nice to include from a museal, completionist perspective, the same can't be said for the three versions of "Homes & Gardens". Anyway, whether to simply include the two tracks mentioned from the maxi and this unreleased track would be better or not, I frankly can't see any good reason for this release not to have been packaged as a single CD. A 2CD edition sorts of fragments this conceptual masterpiece.

When Haujobb's first album came around it sounded just like that which it was; yet another stereotypical copycat German EBM affair. Inspiring and brutal use of synthesizers? Check. Annoying growling vocals? Check. Samples from the movie "Aliens"? Check. Ambient piece nearing the end of the album? Check. Although it is a little bit rough around the edges it remains an overall pleasant acquaintance, provided that you go in with the proper expectations and make use of your CD-player's programming function.
