A highlight on Morrissey's covers LP, this record is a notable addition to his singles discography, because of the beautiful Boz original on the B-side, "Brow Of My Beloved" - the soft, reflective sort of song to which Morrissey's voice is so well suited, yet which he chooses to record so seldom - songs like "Seasick, Yet Still Docked", "I'd Love To", "I'm Not Sorry", and "In Your Lap". When Morrissey gives us calmer songs like this, between the hard-charging numbers that tend to fill his albums, it's always a breath of fresh air. "Brow Of My Beloved" addresses the titular furrowed brow of the song's subject, rather than the subject themself. "But what do I do? I sit here stuck with you-know-who." The music here deserves lyrics more fully developed than what Morrissey delivers - though it's clear he means well.

"Wedding Bell Blues" is full of melody and good humor - an instant classic for our Frank. The singer from Green Day was a surprisingly apt choice for the duet - and not just because his name's Bill!
