Franco Petracchi

Real Name:Franco Petracchi

Italian double bass soloist and teacher, born in Pistoia September 22, 1937.
His extraordinary career as a bass player begins in 1960 in Venice, at the Festival of Contemporary Music. His work as a virtuoso leads him to play with the most important orchestras and the most important directors. The critics are unanimous in calling it "rising star of the concert of the instrument" and consider also founder of his instrument. He has recorded for major record labels including Sony Classical, Philips, Dynamic and Columbia. He plays a bass "Gaetano Rossi of 1847 ex Bottesini" and has a "Gambusera of 1847 atelier G. Smith".
