Troup charted as a songwriter in the U.S. eleven times and four in the U.K. between 1941-2007. He hit #1 with "Daddy" by Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye in 1941. In 1946, he hit #11 (#3 R&B) with "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66" by The King Cole Trio. His next top song was "Clumsy" by Fergie from The Dutchess in 2007--the song hit #5 overall, #89 R&B and #62 in the U.K. Covers of "Route 66" charted four additonal times and covers of "Daddy" two additional times.
