Naked music in my opinion is the best deep house label around. It is my favourite house label for a number of reasons. The term 'naked' means to me sexy, smooth, clean and beautiful and this is exactly what you get from every naked music releases. Pure beautiful and smooth music made from the soul.
Another thing which is great about the label is the artwork of the covers. They are brilliant and show how much effort is put into each and every release. The artwork gives each release a unique feel.
Most naked music singles come with a number of different mixes. The mixes are always excellent and have different approaches. This is great for dj's allowing them to choose a mix to fit into a set or match the mood as well as possible.
Even when Naked went for a slightly different approach with the tech house release 'Trentemoller EP', they still seemed to hit the spot and produced a wonderful piece of vinyl. This is highly respected by many tech house fans. A lot of credit must go to Trentemoller.
Respect goes out to everyone involved with naked music. I am only young so I hope the label carries on for a long time; I certainly will be sticking with it, buying every release.

Naked WAS great but I feel it's become a little formulaic of late. For example, they released numerous volumes of Carte Blanche, Nude Dimensions, Bare Essentials...each release seemed the same as the first and nothing but a money making exercise! Yes I hear you cry, it's a record label and it needs to make money but the releases all sounded the same. There was no risk-taking. Indie labels should be taking risks, or else why are they indie? Lost On Arrival was good and a welcome change howvere, more of the same. They are in danger of straying into the familiar "dad house" territory with too many deep-house-with-female-vocals. Getting Trentmoller on board was a goos idea mind you. And the artwork was and still is brilliant and has been imitated, badly, by many other labels. I still love the Naked albums such as Nude Dimensions Vol. 2 (the first track "Superficial" is a classic) and the Migs mix Nude Tempo was fantastic. I just hope they don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Less is more.

naked music were the apitomy of originality since there inception. they bubbled on the underground but you can't keep quality a secret for long. there releases were little events, the sheer class of production, attention to graphoc design, even the website is amazing. true direction needed to evolve but has done so for the better, it's easy to remain in the past and even harder to get people to accept the new. producers and deejays like migs, true he's touched britney, but if you were being offered cash like that i would bloody take, the music industry is fickle, would you be a music purist on bread and water, me neither. migs keep it up you rule sunshine

Everything Naked Music touches is golden. Whether you're with your closest friends sharing a fine drink and some real times, or alone with your object of desire, the words that Naked's unmatched tune selections conjure up would sound something like: 'intimate,' 'seductive,' 'disinhibiting,' and so on. In a word: 'Naked,' in all it's aural beauty. The vast majority of Naked releases are sophisticated layers of down-to-midtempo groove, soul, jazz, deep-lined house which allow you to dance if you like, and still allow you to hold a conversation if you wish. And if you're by yourself, the music will keep you company, and you can explore it.
Standout collections include the initial Carte Blanche, Bare Essentials Vol. 2, and Nude Dimensions Vol. 2, but these are just the best of the brilliant. All of it is absolutely premium stuff. The care and attention Naked Music put into each release's selection, mixing, and production has my utmost respect and appreciation. Keep it up, kats & kittins.

I only have one issue with Naked Music Recordings, and that is that I wish they would release more of the cool stuff they once did. For example, I finally tracked down a copy of Only by Aquanote on 12" Single. Now, the Aquanote Original 12" mix has been rockin' my world for the last however long, but then I heard the Weekender Vocal mix and I thought I was having a stroke! The keys in this track are amazing, and instantly I was transported back to when I first heard this track in 2000.
What's my point? The point is, that whilst Trentemoller et al are absolutely funkin', Naked should go back to their roots for a little while and bring back those tracks that had hammering Wurlitzer 240V Tremolos. And on that note, they have released a few songs by Weekender, namely, Thinking about you, from the Carte Blanche 3 CD. Why haven't they released it as a single for christs sake!
Overall though, this label rocks my world. It is a beautiful thing, that hopefully, will be around for some time to come.

Yes, Naked had gotten into a rut with tracks that seem to follow the "formula"... But now the last several releases show Naked going in a new direction. The music is still deep and groovy, but features more of a variety of sounds and styles, even going into a techy vibe on some releases. Starting with the "lost on arrival" compilations, you will notice some new innovative sounds and remixes from newcomers and from talent that aren't so new but are new to this label.

I agree with every one of the comments. It's a superb group that dishes out the best in deep house. It's a shame they don't get any airplay -- which is one of the reasons I stopped listening to the radio. I instead search the internet for the best in House. It's amazing what I've been missing out for all these years. I'm a 45 year old "house" mother that will never lose love of what moves me.

Naked Music is proof that there's still very fresh house sound coming from the US. I was very surprised when I first learned that the label is based in San Francisco, surely not a city a European housefan would turn to in search of deep house. Nakes Music has changed that completely. Brilliant music, but also great artwork and cover designs!

11 gennaio 2011There is no doubt that over a span of 10years one deep house recording label has remained consistent,dedicated and innovative as a force to reckon with in this variant of house despite the fact that depending on the listner various tracks produced under this label have covered stlyes such as jazz,r&b and even a touch of nu-soul.Naked Music may not be as prominent as before but they provided a bench mark for 'deep/soulful house each artist,DJ,producer who has worked with Naked Music recordings has added their own individual touch but also managed to stay within the musical framework of this label/production house.
What is unfortunate is that Naked Music remains a favorite for a core group of real music lovers and have never really seen 'large scale' commercial success but IMO that is the price one pays for being true to real artistry which this label has no doubt been true to.
One will always recognize any Naked Music recording because of the rich and diverse mix of eclectic influences that form the signature sounds of any Naked Music recording layered with smooth vocals from some of the best independent jazz,soul vocalists not forgetting the support in various NM compilations from a number of talented Deejay's,remixers in the Deep House music fraternity.
Naked Music will remain one of my top Deep House production labels,and I would recommend any music lover to get hold of any music that was,still is produced from this label.The current release 'Noesis'( as of 2010) is a musical gem & is testament that NM has not lost that magic touch.
