I'd love to read any opinions on the sound quality of this pressing.

Great sonics! Superb pressing. And the music - proto-punk. Intense, explosive. A British friend introduced me to them some years ago, grateful to finally find this comp! Worth seeking out IMHO

Atrocious and brick wall remaster and that's no mean feat for a vinyl format.

This record is a bit of a mixed bag. I picked it up because I've wanted some analog mastered music by the band but have only owned every CD compilation.

"Makin' Time", "Painter Man", and "Try And Stop Me" sound pretty terrible. It bears the hallmarks of bad fake stereo (ton of reverb, and exaggerated low-end". "If I Stay Too Long" also sounds like fake stereo. For some reason, "Biff Bang Pow" sounds much better in stereo, though one would think it would be sourced from the same materials that they used for the other early singles.

The rest of the songs, however, sound really great! Good dynamics, good sounding drums.

First, the sleeve design is very nice. The sleeve is a thick card board like what you would see with VMP issues or some Third Man pressings. The vinyl itself looks beautiful! The shade of pink is quite nice. The only issue I have is the music is quite distorted once you get to the middle of the side, making it unenjoyable and unpleasant. I love the music though, and I would recommend this album to anyone.

Sounds good. It has that full, hard driving mono sound but the mastering is really rough. For some reason the vocals on side A can sound a little hot and distorted at times. Record plays fine with no skips and not a lick of surface noise. Only problem, it's pressed horribly, horribly off center, one of the worst I've ever seen. I wonder if that accounts for the muddy sound I hear on side A. Because side B sounds absolutely wonderful, crystal clear, nice detail. Maybe the side A masters were in worse shape? This was $18 USD retail which is very cheap for a record. I would have gladly payed a little more for a quality remaster and a bit better quality pressing.

Really nice reissue of this hard-to-find album. Nice heavy tip-on jacket which replicates the original artwork really nicely. Cut from the original mono master and you can tell, it sounds really clean and powerful. Flat and quiet vinyl (although I would have preferred black). My only complaint is it came in the cheap round-corner paper sleeves everyone seems to be using now. I wish they could have used nicer poly-lined inner sleeves. Still highly recommended for anyone who likes 60s mod rock
