Nirvana – Nevermind

Acceptable sound to my ears. Clear and live vocals, punchy guitars. Some obvious mess in the top end, but I don’t know any version of this album with crystal clear hi-hats.
Outstanding packaging, great additional materials with good sound quality. A worthy release.

Great pressing, dirtier and more exciting than the BG pressing but slightly lacks the grandeur of the UK OG. Great alternative if you find the OG too expensive, and includes a 7" disc..

I'm so surprised everyone is so happy with this pressing. I bought 6 of this one new from Target to make sure it wasn't a unit variation thing. 4 from online at Target.com, and 2 from my local Target here at Atlanta. I compared them to the quality of my black vinyl already at home. They all sounded very muddy and muffled, nowhere close to how crisp the black vinyl sounds. Very disappointed.

What does this sound like compared to the Bernie Grundman release?

This is a BG Bernie Grundman, not sure why it is not stated in the discogs listing, seems to be a 2023 press? Sounds fantastic

I saw some beautiful and expensive Mint sealed copies listed here. Just want to warn you about my story...

A friend of mine picked-up for me a so called "Mint sealed" copy of a Japanese press in Paris (France) from a store which is listing here and many others "Mint sealed" nice records.

My friend is not a collector/expert and despite the shrink had been opened and the record checked, he didn't see the very light hairlines and spindle marks difficult to see at day light.

The record is more or less NM all around and an insert was missing. It costed me probably twice the price I should have been paying for. It's not bad grading, it's simply robbery.

So, be careful, famous old records still sealed are pretty rare on the market. Only real collectors and very serious stores like some I'm in touch with in Japan and the US can be trusted. And unfortunately more and more robbers like that shop in Paris are re-sealing records to make more money faster. I gave it a try. Too bad for me. A second try is not necessary, just don't buy anything from that guy.

Does this pressing use the Bernie Grundman plates like the first Target metallic silver pressing?

Bought a copy because my toddler loves the album and I don't think playing a first press all the time is a good idea, ha ha. That said, the vinyl is very quiet and the mastering is great sounding, I kind of like it better than the real thing.

Great sounding pressing with great dynamics. Did not notice any dynamics compression/limiting on this one (compared it with the remastered version on streaming services that seems to be very compressed). So if you are not a fan of the loudness war, this is probably a pressing to choose.
