For those who are weary of this release, let me be first to say that as a previous owner of the official release, the sound quality is on par to the steamhammer release. The discs for this release (blue) are different shades of blue, disc one being a dark blue and disc two being almost marbled turquoise. The only thing that I do see different is the inner sleeve, cover and back art. Stretching on pixelation from probably being copied from a cd, saturation is higher and vibrant, something I prefer over the steamhammer release. Cover is glossy and is very smooth and sleek. On the back, there are lackings of steamhammer logos. The inner sleeve are not lyric and picture sleeves, instead there is an extra picture leaflet that does have the whole front cover image, slightly pixelated, and on the other side of the page is a band photo with Halford and Holland from ‘82 priest. All together, this really does compete with the steamhammer release, if you’re a priest fan who is trying to collect all of the records this is for you, sound quality is excellent and for the price comparative to the original release, makes it more tantalizing.

I really wish I bought that copy off eBay in 2000 for $20! LOL I was one of the few still buying vinyl in the 90's & early 2000's. You couldn't give this CD away, went from $12.99 to the $7.99 clearance rack at the stores and $2.00 on eBay. The LP was fairly common on eBay in the $20 range and I saw this tour in NYC. Maybe I could sell my rare tour shirt? :-) I can't complain too much because I do have a lot of rare vinyl from that era & sold some too on here from bands that I didn't care for too much. Most SS. It's hard to sell an LP without listening to it at least once but oh well! :-) Rock Hard, Ride Free! \m/

Whats the sound like on these, is it a good source or just a cd pressed to vinyl?

I've seen these in Blue vinyl as well. Double LP in a single jacket that includes an insert of the Priest pictured with Rob Halford, LOL!

I am in love with this record artwork, but cannot understand the actual prices, very high for a record considered as one of the weakest of their career, but well, this is business, right ?...

I'm curious if anyone knows how many copies of this were pressed? I can't find any indication anywhere online of how many there are.

Incredible album! Good riffs! Very aggressive, makes you want to smash places! The attitude is also great! I also tend to like albums that are somehow controversial on whether people like them or not. I think it's a sign of the band doing what they like instead of pleasing the fans. I think the great attitude stems from that!

Be careful of fakes, especially from Belgium, Greek, Italy, Ukraine, Russia. Chances are they are fake.

Tim "Ripper" Owens had huge shoes to fill on his first release with Priest, irreplacable ones many would argue. The band flew him in to audition after viewing a poor quality recording of his Judas Priest tribute band in action, and after literally 1 and a quarter songs he was in, beating off candidates such as Ralf Scheepers, Sebastian Bach and, believe it or not, Devin Townsend.

And it shows. No one can deny his vocal prowess, which at its height is simply stunning. However this was not enough to guarantee a great album; with vocalist, lyricist and frontman of 19 years Rob Halford gone and the newcomer yet to fully integrate it was down to guitarists Tipton and Downing to write all of the material.

Unfortunately it shows as well. Their past songwriting was widely renowned and (more often than not) incredibly inspired, but with Halford gone and an unprecedented gap in their recording schedule they seemed to lose a good chunk of their creativity; and this is where "Jugulator" ultimately falls short. There are some blinding tracks to be found heightened by harsh riffage and great production (notably 1, 2, 9 & 10), and while a step-down for both, the straight up brutality of the guitar solos compliment the structures very nicely. But average to totally uninspired lyrics and droning filler seriously hamper what is otherwise a decent effort.
