The track "The Boy Who Couldn't Keep His Clothes On" on this "Red Letter Day" CD single is presented here in a unique version. This is based on the International Club Mix. But the intro is different (beginning with percussions and shorter). That version is not available anywhere else as all other releases containing "The Boy..." use the International Club Mix (Bilingual Special Edition, Bilingual / Further Listening 1995/1997 and Format).

A RED LETTER DAY, a touching track about fitting in and those moments our lives that give it meaning, is a strong track, and accompanied by the dance-ready circuit culture critique "The Boy Who Couldn't Keep His Clothes On" (complete with ghetto-girl commentary!) gives this single an interesting angle. Funny how "Delusions of Grandeur" is all about power, since it's the most high energy of all four of the tracks on this single. The Moscow mix of "A Red Letter Day" is beatless and heavy on the atmosphere. A nice package overall.

The Pet Shop Boys' peppy A RED LETTER DAY gets club-friendly remixes: the Trouser Enthusiasts fashion a suitable minor-key progressive house mix (and a matching dub), and Motiv-8 do up a more energetic version. But the obvious standout is the moody Basement Jaxx mix, which uses a more deconstructed kick drum along with more constructed noises. But when the synth patches come in, the track takes on an eerily beautiful quality that matches Neil Tennant's cool delivery perfectly.
