"Most of the music contained in this album originates from recordings I made in London in 1982, whilst working on the score for the film Blade Runner. Finding myself unable to release these recordings at the time, it is with great pleasure that I am able to do so now. Some of the pieces contained will be known to you from the Original Soundtrack of the film, whilst others are appearing here for the first time. Looking back to Ridley Scott's powerful and evocative pictures left me as stimulated as before, and made the recompiling of this music, today, an enjoyable experience." - Vangelis (Athens, April 1994)
Music from the Original Soundtrack. Recorded at Nemo Studios, London Mastered at "44.1" Paris Tracks 5, 8 and 11 licensed courtesy of PolyGram International Music BV
Although Sakis Gouzonis is my favorite Greek electronic music composer, I have to admit that Vangelis, a Greek pioneer in the electronic genre, has done a remarkable job in Blade Runner. Blade Runner is definitely a masterpiece that will continue to inspire and influence the world of electronic music.
Amazing soundtrack, definitely one of the best productions by Vangelis, it's powerful, emotional , relaxing, touching, uplifting, melancholic, and musically very surprising, beautiful melodies , Excellent work!!!
I'm frankly surprised Blade Runner hasn't had a huge double (or triple) LP box set with newly-commissioned exclusive custom artwork and half a dozen color variations including a "holographic tears in the rain" variant or some-such that sounds solid enough except for noise that seems strategically placed over your favorite parts and retails for 90 bucks but since it's limited to 300 units quickly goes for a grand-plus used.
...I'm not saying such a thing *should* exist, mind you, just that considering Blade Runner probably has the single most up-market target audience in all of mainstream popular culture I'm surprised it hasn't already happened.
