Definately something different from Andrew Weatherall & Keith Tenniswood. The 'real instruments' certainly add to the effect of the album and it does have a dirty electro feel to it. The only downside is the tracks on which Andrew Weatherall himself sings. I feel it might have been better if they had gotten someone else in to do those parts. Still an interesting album and well worth checking out.

This album presents a very refreshing sound for the electronic dance genre - it maintains the raw, unfiltered loopyness while adding elements of rock and punk through the use of live instruments, solo's and wicked lose-the-drum-machine percussions. A perfect CD for to convert that punk-rock-listening friend of yours!

I concur - "Sex Beat" is really stellar. What a strange song for them to choose to cover but it both sounds great and works really well on this album, which is also great. I'd heard people saying some really mixed things about this album, but I really thinks it's great. It's a bit more "organic" (yes, that dreaded B.S. word) than the past, which means that it is dirtier sounding and more sparse than their music of the past. I dig the live instruments and i dig Andy's vocals. And I dig this album.

'Sex Beat' is a cover of the Gun Club classic (from the LP 'Fire Of Love') and features Mr Weatherall on vocals.

Even though I knew that the cover was in the capable hands of some of the finest producers/musicians in the land I was a bit apprehensive about what they'd do to what was already a perfect song. But rejoice - the lads have done good!!! Weatherall hasn't attempted to be Jeffrey Lee Pierce, like everything he's ever done before he's made it his own and it sounds FANTASTIC. It's rough, it's live, it's full of dirt 'n' sleaze but it still has that Swordsmen production sound.

          Oh joy.
